Meet Susan

Hello  - I am the founder of Design Inspires and Designversation who is passionate about the elements of design.  I have a master’s degree in  interior design who has enjoyed an amazing career that has spanned 21 years. As an entrepreneur and designer at heart, I strive to find  opportunities where I can  inspire people using my God given design talents and sharing my eye for style.

Things about me you may not know:

• My collections include milk glass for the soft geometric details and fresh translucent quality. I crave the deep colors and art décor style of Frankoma pottery – fire red/orange and lime green.
• Enjoy the adventure of my local second hand stores for needlework projects.   I have to admit that I have even pulled off the interstate into a small town and asked for directions to the closest thrift store, when I needed a break from a long road trip.
• You will always find my favorite marble glass lamp, chocolate scented hand lotion, pillow spray with natural herbs to calm the nerves, and at least three books on my nightstand.  Topics of the books are diverse, including business, bible a day, and health information.
• I have redesigned my brand and company logos 3 times since I opened my doors in 2001.  As a designer it is so hard to pick just one.
• The first 10 years of my career involved interior design projects for the US Air Force and Army. Yes, we designed with more colors than earth brown and steel grey.
• I miss my Mom everyday and turn my head often to notice her standing next to me with a smile on her face.

I began creating artwork and organization items with a message inherent to the design to replace the reminder sticky notes throughout my home.  I focus on the design of a product to create harmony in interior spaces.  I focus on the style of a message to add daily prayer and positive affirmations to interior spaces. This trend continued as I developed products for family and friends … my inspiring gift to them straight from my heart.  It is my way of sending them a loving and inspiring message daily.  “Angel Girl” – for my niece. She is a gift from God and I do not want her growing up reading the commonly found word plaques for girls stating; shopaholic, princess, and diva. A message of “Joy” – for my brother’s family. They add so much joy to my life and a reminder to enjoy each day.  “Love” all day long – for my friend. A reminder of strength in her relationships.

I started noticing similar products everywhere I traveled and in all my late night online explorations. There are some absolutely wonderful and creative products available, but many are buried amongst other items.  I thought … wouldn’t it be nice to have a single resource which includes all of these  great  décor gifts and accessories in one location. A consumer searches for a single word/emotion/quote and is instantly shown products in a variety of styles, colors, and typography, finding one or two that meets their needs.
